Tips for the Digital Photographer
Its important to get to know your camera. Read the instruction manual and search the internet for tips and tutorials about your particular make and model. Knowing your camera well is the first step in shooting great images.
By pushing creativity and learning how to use computer software, a photographer can get excellent results from shooting images and then enhancing the same images on his or her computer.
Know the subject. When shooting landscapes be aware of texture, light and shadow. Weather also plays a big part in landscape photography. Work with what is natural in the environment and the results will surprise you.
When shooting with digital cameras it is important to have appropriate lighting. When aiming a digital camera into a dark place not enough light is fed into the camera to create an image. This creates blank spots or pixilation in the image reproduction. It is an undesirable look when printed.
Keep track of your equipment. Battery life and memory card condition effect the result of a desired image.
Keep your camera clean. Fingerprints on the lens and LCD screen can cause problems with obtaining and seeing a desired image.
When attempting night photography make sure shutter speeds are appropriately slow and the flash is off. Natural light is the best at night.
When attempting flash photgraphy, make sure the flash is adjusted to the apropriate setting to compliment the shot. Does theshot require fill flash? A slow flash? A wide open shutter and a tripd with the flash?
When attempting action photography make sure the shutter speed is correct for movement and the flash, if needed, is set appropriately.
Enjoy photography. If the photgrapher truly enjoys what he or she is doing then that will appear in the image.
