The best baby and child photography has its own style. A good rapport with the individuals they photograph is essential for the successful baby photographer. It takes a special touch to get the most out of baby photography or a child's portrait. Infant and child photographers who have demonstrated talent are in large demand but can be hard to find.

When looking for a baby photographer, its best to get an individual who has a proven track record of success. It must be a person who is trusted and who provides excellent references. A portfolio of work must be shown to see how the children look in the care of the photographer. Even though the parents and perhaps the rest of the family may be involved in the photography process, the relationship of the photographer and the baby determines the success of the photography session.

Photographers willing to do their work in the child's home or on a desired location are preferred. Photography sessions can be from 1 to 2 hours and any number of family members should be able to participate.

Photographs should be unique to your child's personality. Infants have distinct personalities that can be worked with for positive results. What is being created is a documentary, a biography of the child's young life. When the photos are seen not just the baby will be remembered but a whole segment of a person's life will come along with that remembrance.
