Choosing a digital photography camera can be easier than it seems. First the potential or established photographer must think about what it is he or she wants out of a camera. The photographer can then serch for the correct camera for them.

The least expensive digital camera is the point and shoot digital. It hs approximately 3 to 4 million pixels. It can be said that they are the equivelent of instant cameras or low grade SLRs in photo quality. They are portable and easily used. The cost is insubstantial compared to other digital models, at bewteen $100 and $500.

Lower grade digital cameras don't have focus through the lens capability, but digital cameras with bewteen 5 and 7 million pixels do. Also, cameras with higher resolution have more sophisticated controls allowing for a wider scope of creativity.

Professional digital cameras have between 6 and 12 million pixels. These upper grade cameras tend to have the same type of controls as their film predecesors and can switch accessories with them as well. The image sensor, that which takes light into the camera, has a typical size an so therefore can exchange parts with other cameras with that same size sensor or its film equivelent.

Canon has some nice digital photography cameras. 2 in particular are the Digital Rebel and the G6. the Rebel is good as it is an easy camera to learn to use. It comes with 3 megapixel sensor and an 18-55 mm lens. There is also the canon G6, which comes equipped with 7.1 megapixels and has a compact body for easy carrying. It comes with a 35-140 mm lens, a wireless remote control with tutorial cd roms and a driver for windows and mac. Thelithium battery lasts for more than 500 photos, and usb and av cables for computer uploading.

Sony digital photography has a series of cameras that are amateur and professional friendly. These cameras range from 2 megapixels to over 6 megapixels. For the beginner there 2 in particular: the Sony cyber shot DSC-P72. It comes with 3.2 megapixels and a smart zoom lens. It also has auto focus, email mode, and mini burst animation. The Sony DSC-T5 is less than an inch thick and has 5 megapixels.
