Simply because it is extremely versatile and it allows the photographer to quickly switch from photographing close objects to distant ones. A simple 50 mm lens is essential for every photographer that wants to take wonderful pictures in all light conditions. This is why you should be looking for at 50 mm f/1.8, or even better, for a f/1.4 model, which is more expensive, but will have a lot more to offer.

Last but not least, every photographer should pack a 70-200 mm lens, especially for photographing details of distant objects. Trust us, this is the perfect lens to have on your DSLR if you like travelling and shooting fast moving subjects.
